History
On July 1 2009, The Community Mediation Center of Stark County merged with Coleman Professional Services to form Coleman Mediation Services.
Prior to the merger, the Community Mediation Center operated for eight years as an independent, private, not-for-profit organization using a community mediation model. The Community Mediation Center offered a wide variety of mediation services and conflict management training to the Stark County community.
With tremendous support from the community, Mediation Services evolved with a goal to offer alternative dispute resolution to the courts, schools and community. Over the years, the concept and implementation of alternative dispute resolution and mediation has grown. With continued support from local organizations and government, mediation is now used to settle and resolve a wide range of conflicts.
Coleman Mediation continues to offer training. Basic Mediation training and Conflict Resolution Skills training are offered to the public for personal and professional development. The training curriculum is approved for Continuing Legal Credits and Continuing Education Credits. There are two training classes a year and organizations may request additional skills training classes tailored to meet their specific needs.
Coleman Mediation Services continues to focus on effectively managing conflict, community outreach and positive vision. Coleman Mediation continues to grow because of the satisfactory outcome of the services and the life-changing effects alternative dispute resolution has on the thousands of people who have participated.
